Google Workspace users will soon notice a fresh new look for their app icons as the redesigned versions are now being rolled out widely. The updated icons feature a gradient look that transitions from lighter to darker shades, a departure from the previous flat tone design. This change aligns with the updated Google logo introduced last year. Some of the app icons, such as Google Chat, Meet, and Calendar, have moved from a rainbow design to a single color scheme. This adjustment aims to make each icon more distinct, although it may pose a challenge in terms of recognition. On the other hand, icons like Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides have retained their original colors and design approach. Interestingly, the Sheets and Slides icons have been rotated to landscape mode, reflecting how most users interact with these apps. The Google Drive icon has undergone a significant transformation, now sporting rounded corners and no longer featuring a red accent in the bottom right corner. Additionally, some icons have shed their borders, like Google Keep, which now appears as a simple yellow light bulb. While the updated icons offer a cleaner and more modern aesthetic, users may need some time to adjust to the changes, especially if they frequently use certain apps like Keep. Overall, the redesigned icons bring a fresh and cohesive look to the Google Workspace suite, with subtle yet impactful changes that enhance the user experience.
