Apple Music Down: Users Report Widespread Outage

If you’re currently facing issues with Apple Music, it’s not just you. The service is experiencing a widespread interruption, so troubleshooting on your iPhone or Mac may not be necessary.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple’s System Status page has indicated an ongoing “Outage” for Apple Music since 11:40 a.m. Eastern Time. While Apple mentions that only “some users are affected,” the red alert triangle suggests a more serious situation than usual.

Downdetector has also shown an increase in reports over the past few hours, peaking at around 238. However, this number may not accurately reflect the total impact since not all users may report the outage.

Although Apple’s services are generally reliable, Apple Music has experienced several outages in recent months, including two in April within days of each other.

The duration of this outage is uncertain, but Downdetector reports show a downward trend from the peak. A previous outage on April 16 lasted over 19 hours, while another outage occurred just three days later and was resolved in under six hours.

While not affecting everyone, Apple suggests that those experiencing issues may face intermittent problems. Users who have downloaded music for offline listening may be less impacted as they don’t require an internet connection.

Despite Apple Music’s usual stability, the recent increase in disruptions raises questions about potential underlying issues. This may be related to server-side stability challenges or infrastructure updates, possibly in preparation for upcoming AI features at WWDC.

It’s worth noting that Spotify, a rival streaming service, has also experienced increased outages in recent months due to its expansion into new areas like lossless music and podcasts.
