Are you experiencing difficulty with clear audio on your iPhone calls? Whether you're in a noisy environment or just want better sound quality, adjusting your iPhone's microphone settings could be the solution. Learn more about the options available and how to make the necessary changes. Apple introduced new microphone modes for FaceTime in iOS 15 three years ago, including Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum. With the release of iOS 16.4 in 2023, Voice Isolation mode was expanded to iPhone calls. And now, with iOS 18, Apple has added a new mode that automatically selects the best option for your call type. By default, the Standard Mic Mode is enabled on your iPhone. You can adjust this setting for each specific app, and it will be saved until you change it again. This feature works not only in the Phone and FaceTime apps but also in other communication apps like Zoom, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger. While cellular calls are limited to Voice Isolation, Wide Spectrum is available in most other voice-over-IP (VoIP) and video calling apps. Your chosen microphone setting will be saved separately for each app, allowing you to customize the audio experience based on your preferences. However, you can only change the mode for phone calls while you are on a call. During a call, swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to access the Control Center. Tap on Phone Controls, FaceTime Controls, or the relevant app name at the top of your screen. Under Audio & Video settings, choose from Automatic, Standard, Voice Isolation, or Wide Spectrum mode. Remember that your selected Mic Mode will be saved for future calls made using that particular app. These options are available on iPhone XR, XS, and newer models. Consider adjusting your Mic Mode to improve audio quality on your iPhone calls, especially for work-related communication.
