Organized by A16Z Games, the games-focused investment arm of Andreessen Horowitz, Speedrun is an early-stage accelerator for startups offering $750,000 in funding along with access to a select group of industry coaches, mentors, and like-minded founders, as described by the VC firm. Founded earlier this year by Impact Reality, Flat2VR Studios aims to collaborate with top developers from the VR modding community to create officially licensed VR adaptations of popular non-VR games. Unlike traditional modding groups, Flat2VR Studios partners directly with developers to produce official VR versions of their games. The studio boasts experienced VR porting experts 'Cabalistic' and 'Raicuparta', known for their successful VR conversions of games like Half-Life 2 and Outer Wilds. The studio is currently in the process of developing an official VR port for an undisclosed game, scheduled for release in late 2024 or early 2025 on major VR platforms. More details are expected to be revealed at the VR Games Showcase on August 15th.
