Sony unveils new concept car and confirms when first Afeela 1 vehicles will arrive

Sony Honda Mobility has officially announced the delivery schedule for its Afeela 1 EV, as well as unveiling a new concept car at its CES 2026 press conference.

The Afeela 1 was initially introduced at CES 2023, following the debut of the Vision S concept by Sony and Honda at CES 2020.

During the Afeela launch, Sony Honda Mobility stated that the electric sedan would hit the roads in the US in 2026, and they are on track to fulfill that promise made three years ago.

The CEO of the company, Yasuhide Mizuno, confirmed that the first deliveries of the Afeela 1 sedan will begin in California later this year, with Japanese customers expected to receive the car in the first half of 2027.

This news will be well received by customers who reserved an Afeela several years ago, and it will be exciting to see the vehicle on the road. Mizuno also had a surprise in store during his presentation.

Introducing the Afeela Prototype 2026

As the stage curtain lifted, the Afeela Prototype 2026 SUV model was revealed, with plans to transform it into a production car by 2028 for the North American market.

Although we got a glimpse of the exterior on stage, details about the interior and specifications were not provided, leaving us curious about what to expect from this new model.

It is anticipated that the Afeela Prototype will feature the PS Remote Play feature seen in the Afeela 1, allowing passengers to stream and play games from their PS4 or PS5 if they have a reliable internet connection.

If the prototype mirrors the infotainment system of the Afeela, drivers can look forward to a large panoramic display in the front and entertainment screens in the rear.

These screens can be personalized with themes, animated wallpapers, and apps, allowing owners to customize their vehicle to their liking.

More information about the SUV prototype and its upcoming production model may be revealed in the coming months, or we may have to wait until CES 2027 for further updates.
