Debuting at EVO 2025 over the weekend, Sega and RGG Studio have shared a first look at the New Virtua Fighter Project gameplay. Check it out!
Set in a lavishly rendered training stage area, which looks about as sci-fi as a Star Trek Holodeck or X-Men Danger Room, the gameplay features the solid thump and impact of combat with cinematic slow-motion cuts for dramatic effect. Akira and Sarah Bryant are seen trading blows, with Akira sporting a new undercover look in the form of a fedora and trenchcoat. The game will reveal more details at Tokyo Game Show 2025 in September.
Fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting the new installment since the original launch of Virtua Fighter 5. While Virtua Fighter 5 REVO has seen a revival, the upcoming release of the New Virtua Fighter Project promises to reignite interest in the franchise. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for their work on the Yakuza series, has taken the reins of this project, ensuring a fresh and exciting take on the classic fighting game.
