Samsung has introduced a new camera technology with the industry-first DeepPix feature, aiming to revolutionize light capture. This technology also enhances HDR performance at all zoom levels, offers single-frame 16-bit HDR, and provides 4K video recording at an impressive 180fps for slow-motion playback.
DeepPix utilizes a unique pixel structure to improve Full Well Capacity (FWC) by leveraging Samsung’s advanced Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI). This innovation increases the single-pixel FWC by 60% compared to the previous generation, delivering superior image quality.
The camera module, which shares core specifications with the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s main camera, features a 1/1.3-inch sensor with 0.6μm pixels and Super Quad Phase-Detection autofocus. The enhancements introduced by DeepPix and other technologies are expected to make a significant difference in image quality.
While it was initially speculated that the new camera module would be used in the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra, Samsung has decided to primarily manufacture it for other phone makers. The module is already in mass production and is likely to be integrated into future smartphones from Vivo, Xiaomi, and Oppo.
In a strategic business move, Samsung is rumored to equip the Galaxy S27 with an ISOCELL HP6 module instead of the HPC module. The new camera is expected to feature a 200Mp sensor at 1/1.3-inch size with similar enhancements to deliver improved performance.
