Over the Hill looks like SnowRunner’s cosy off-roading cousin, and its new trailer shows off muddy motoring in Algeria ahead of release later this year

I’ve been a fan of Funselektor’s laid-back arcade racers for a while now. From Absolute Drift to Art Of Rally, their games always deliver a unique and relaxing experience. Their latest project, Over the Hill, created in collaboration with Strelka Games, is set to be released this year and promises to be a refreshing off-road adventure.

The game takes players through the stunning landscapes of Algeria, featuring ancient ruins, sandy valleys, and even fallen meteorites. As you navigate these terrains in your trusty vehicle, you’ll have the opportunity to soak in the beauty of the surroundings while facing challenges along the way.

One of the standout features of Over the Hill is the ability to set up camp in the wilderness, providing a cozy retreat for when you need a break or when night falls. This adds a new level of immersion to the game, making it the most atmospheric title from Funselektor yet.

While the exact release date for Over the Hill remains a mystery, the studio has announced a closed playtest on Steam from April 24th to 26th. Players can sign up for the playtest until April 16th, offering a glimpse into what the full release may have in store. With its unique gameplay mechanics and stunning visuals, Over the Hill is shaping up to be another hit from Funselektor.
