During a recent Developer Stream for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Asobo Studio made an exciting announcement – the highly anticipated support for PSVR 2 could be released as early as this week.
Last month, the studio revealed that the ‘Sim 5’ update would be arriving in April, bringing PSVR 2 compatibility to the PS5 version of the game along with several other enhancements. However, the exact release date for this update was not initially specified.
Now, in the April 2026 Developer Stream, Asobo Studio confirmed that the game has successfully passed Sony’s certification process and is now “down to three must-fix bugs or something,” shared Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
While the studio hasn’t provided a specific launch date for the update, Neumann mentioned that they are “super close” to releasing it.
“It has a little bit to do with trying to get the final career specialization going, and it’s like one or two more bugs, and that’s it. So, we’re hoping that it’s next week,” Neumann stated in the previous week’s broadcast.
Microsoft and Asobo had previously confirmed that the PSVR 2 version of the game would support all 125 different aircraft, including cockpits with Sense controller support for a more immersive experience.
The studios also discussed their 2026 roadmap, which includes various updates throughout the year focusing on avionics, new aircraft additions, and updates to World and City environments.
