Apple is currently testing the upcoming iOS 26.6.1 update for iPhone users, following the recent release of iOS 26.6 to the public.
iOS 26.6.1 in testing
iOS 26.6.1 has been detected in visitor logs for 9to5Mac this week, indicating that devices running the update within Apple have visited the site. MacRumors has also found evidence of the update in their visitor logs.
In addition, Apple has released a series of Mac updates this week to address a significant vulnerability affecting the Screen Sharing app, including macOS Sonoma 14.8.9, macOS Sequoia 15.7.9, and macOS Tahoe 26.6.1.
It’s important to note that not all updates tested internally by Apple are eventually released to the public, even if they appear in web analytics logs.
If iOS 26.6.1 is indeed released to the public, it is likely to focus on bug fixes or security enhancements. Apple announced in June that it would accelerate the pace of iPhone software updates to combat the increasing speed at which AI can develop malicious hacking tools.
