Google Testing New Layout Without Search Button
Google has long been synonymous with its Search button, but recent reports suggest a change may be on the horizon. Some users are now seeing a simplified layout without the traditional Search button when typing “google.com” into their browsers.
The new layout features three distinct AI-first buttons – Create images, Ask about files, and Brainstorm. These buttons may seem unfamiliar to regular Google Search users but are reminiscent of the Gemini chatbot interface.
What’s Different in the New Layout?
The redesigned homepage eliminates the classic Search button and introduces the AI-first buttons below the search bar. The familiar “I am feeling lucky” button remains within the search box, while the new buttons offer functionalities like file queries and brainstorming without requiring a login.
However, access to the image creation feature is restricted behind a sign-in barrier, likely to ensure verified users before utilizing resources.
Rollout or Test?
The new layout seems to be in a testing phase, visible only to logged-out users and not universally available. Factors like location, browser, and session influence its display. Google has not officially confirmed the extent of this change.
While the classic layout may not be immediately replaced, Google’s focus on AI technology is evident in this new design. The current layout appears to be part of a limited A/B test for select users.
