OpenAI has recently unveiled a new version of its ChatGPT Pro subscription, priced at $100 per month. This new Pro tier boasts “5x more” usage of its Codex coding tool compared to the $20 per month Plus subscription, making it ideal for longer and more intensive Codex sessions, as stated by OpenAI.
The introduction of this new tier comes as OpenAI aims to attract users from Anthropic and its widely-used Claude Code tool. Priced at $100 per month, ChatGPT’s new option directly competes with Anthropic’s “Max” tier for Claude, which also comes with a $100 price tag. This new tier bridges the gap between the $20 per month Plus tier and the $200 Pro tier.
It is worth noting that there are now two tiers of “Pro” available. While the new tier still grants access to all Pro features, OpenAI mentions that the more expensive tier has even higher usage limits.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Plus remains the top choice at $20 for consistent day-to-day Codex usage, while the new $100 Pro tier provides a more accessible upgrade path for those with heavier daily usage. Additionally, OpenAI offers a $8 per month Go tier and a free tier for users to choose from.
