Last week, Apple introduced a special edition AirTag in Japan to celebrate the new year, and now they are completing their annual Asian collection with a unique edition of the AirPods Pro 3. This special release combines the latest flagship features, such as heart rate tracking and improved ANC, with a custom design to commemorate the Lunar New Year.
The AirPods Pro 3 with the Year of the Horse design will only be available in select Asian countries, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore. Unlike Japan’s promotional offer, these AirPods are a standard set that can be purchased at the regular price, with the only difference being the engraved design on the case.
While it is possible to get a custom engraving on any set of AirPods, the Year of the Horse edition features a stylized engraving that is exclusive to this release. Apple is producing a limited number of units, so they will be available only while supplies last.

Apple’s special edition AirTags and AirPods have become an annual tradition. The AirTags celebrate Japan’s “Hatsuuri” New Year’s celebration, while the AirPods are released in various Asian countries to mark the Lunar New Year, which falls between late January and mid-February.
This year, it is the Year of the Fire Horse, which begins on February 17, 2026. Apple’s choice to release a special AirTag in Japan this year may be due to the different Lunar New Year timing. Japan does not widely celebrate the lunar new year, but there are communities that hold Lunar New Year festivities.
In China and other Asian markets, Apple is offering exclusive Year of the Horse themed accessories from third-party brands, including Tech21 cases, a Bellroy Travel Organizer, and a Cinch Messenger Bag.
