Altman vs. Elon for the future of OpenAI

A high-stakes trial between Sam Altman and Elon Musk is underway, with the future of OpenAI and its flagship product, ChatGPT, hanging in the balance. Musk has accused OpenAI of deviating from its original mission of developing AI for the betterment of humanity and instead focusing on profits.

Testimonies from Musk, his financial manager Jared Birchall, and OpenAI cofounder Greg Brockman have already been heard. Shivon Zilis, a former OpenAI board member and mother of Musk’s children, is set to testify next, followed by a video testimony from former OpenAI exec Mira Murati.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is also scheduled to appear, with OpenAI cofounder Ilya Sutskever lined up for testimony thereafter.

Musk, a former OpenAI cofounder, alleges that Altman and Brockman misled him into funding the company, only to later abandon their original objectives. OpenAI, on the other hand, claims that Musk’s lawsuit is baseless and driven by jealousy, as a means to promote his own competing ventures.
