Yes I know Christmas was a month ago but SantaCorps 4 perfectly captures Sega Dreamcast era Sonic so play it anyway

Sega has truly mastered the art of creating Sonic games. Not in the sense of perfect 10/10 masterpieces, but in the sense of being competent, mostly free of glitches, and when there are glitches, they are more annoying than funny. Personally, I enjoy the chaos of controlling Sonic in Sonic Adventure 2! But let me introduce you to a game that captures that same wild spirit of Sega’s early 3D games. Forget that Christmas has passed because SantaCorps 4 is a 3D platformer that truly embodies that messy, unpredictable essence.

First things first: no, there are not three other SantaCorps games that you are unaware of, although there is another game called SantaCorps: Snow Patrol which is more of a Bomberman-style arcade game worth checking out. In SantaCorps 4, you take on the role of a member of the SantaCorps, as Santa himself is unable to fulfill his duties, and it’s up to you/them to save Christmas. Classic storyline!

The main objective in each level is to accumulate as many points as possible. You can speed through the levels, collecting points by dashing through stars similar to Sonic’s ring dash, descending chimneys to deliver presents, and lighting up Christmas trees, all while maintaining a high speed to keep your combo going. It’s almost too fast! And you have limited control over the camera! However, it’s all in good fun, with no pressure to perform perfectly, just a gentle nudge towards maximum speed.

The game is also very affordable, like the price of a fancy coffee, so if you’re looking for some light-hearted, fast-paced fun, even if it’s not Christmas season, you can purchase it on Steam here. Plus, there’s a co-op mode available! What more could you ask for?
