Xbox has finally launched the long-awaited feature that allows Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream games they already own through Xbox Cloud Gaming. However, there are some restrictions in place.
Starting now, subscribers can stream from a selection of 50 supported games, even if they are not part of the Game Pass catalog. This includes popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars Outlaws, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as well as indie games like Animal Well, Fear the Spotlight, and Dredge. This feature extends to all versions of the game owned by the user.
The program is available in 28 countries that support Xbox Cloud Gaming and can be accessed on various smart devices with an internet connection. Users can stream games on smart TVs, Meta Quest headsets, mobile devices, or PCs using supported browsers like Edge, Chrome, or Safari.
For users familiar with Cloud Gaming, the process of streaming games they own is similar. They need to sign in to the Xbox website or app, locate the “Stream your own game” feature, and start playing. However, streaming through Xbox consoles or the Xbox app on PC is not yet available and is expected to be rolled out next year.
Xbox has been working on this feature for years, with promises dating back to when it first introduced Game Pass and Cloud Streaming plans. The company’s focus has been on expanding the game library and device compatibility for Game Pass, including recent additions like Amazon Fire TVs. The ultimate goal is to make Xbox Game Pass accessible on a wide range of devices, perhaps even unconventional ones like T-shirts.
