Did you know that Play For Dream MR comes in black, unlike Apple Vision Pro? With its Android-based OS, Play For Dream has caught the attention of many at CES 2025. Launched in Asia last year, the China-based company successfully raised over $2 million through a Kickstarter campaign to bring their mixed reality headset to the Western market.
Play For Dream MR is packed with cutting-edge XR features, including a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset running Android 15, dual 3,840 x 3,552 micro-OLED displays, eye-tracking, auto IPD adjustment, wired and wireless PC streaming, and Touch-style controllers. It even boasts a user interface inspired by Vision Pro.
Former Quest engineer Amanda Watson, known for her work on Oculus projects, had the opportunity to try out Play For Dream’s MR headset and was impressed. She described it as the best HMD demo she saw at CES, praising its performance, optics, UI, and media features.
With USB and wireless PCVR streaming capabilities, Play For Dream MR offers a seamless experience for users. The Touch-style controllers and pancake lenses also received high marks from Watson for their quality and distortion correction.
Established in 2020 as YVR, Play For Dream has already released two generations of standalone VR headsets in China. While Play For Dream MR does not have a set release date or price yet, the company aims to keep it under $2,000. Stay tuned to their website for more information on specs and ordering details.
