Vertu is a brand that typically wouldn’t catch my attention. Originally a luxury subbrand of Nokia, they were acquired by a Swedish private equity firm EQT VI in 2012. After changing ownership multiple times, the UK-based manufacturing arm ceased trading in 2017.
While Vertu initially produced luxury phones with high prices and mediocre specs, they have since launched phones with more premium specifications. The Quantum Flip, for example, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. However, they still offer phones like the Ivertu Calfskin 5G, which uses a Snapdragon 888 chipset that is outdated.
Their latest release, the Agent Q, is set to be available at Harrods and heavily incorporates AI technology. Despite the expected high cost, the phone boasts impressive specifications and a dedicated concierge feature accessible through a single button press.
The Agent Q is designed to revolutionize mobile usage by moving away from traditional app-based structures. It aims to streamline tasks by interpreting natural language commands and orchestrating services seamlessly to achieve user goals.
The phone’s functionality revolves around two main AI systems: the VERTU Productivity Suite (VPS) and the AI-driven intelligence system AIGS. The VPS offers a range of AI agents tailored for high-net-worth individuals, while AIGS integrates third-party services into its network for enhanced functionality.
In terms of construction, the Agent Q draws inspiration from the white falcon, featuring crocodile leather, a unique SIM chamber cover, and meticulous craftsmanship. The phone centralizes various functions under different categories, catering to professional users with a suite of AI assistants.
The camera array on the Agent Q includes a triple-lens system with AI-enhanced features for photography and video editing. Security measures are robust, incorporating a dedicated hardware encryption chip and a multi-layered security framework.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Supreme 3nm processor, the Agent Q runs on Android 15 and VERTU’s proprietary VIOS operating system. It boasts a flexible 120Hz AMOLED display, a large battery capacity, and fast charging capabilities.
The market launch of the Agent Q at Harrods signifies a return to the brand’s roots. The phone is positioned as a luxury companion that offers intelligence and trust in addition to advanced technology. Exclusively available at Harrods, the Agent Q aims to redefine the future of mobile as a service.
