It’s almost been a year since the release of V Rising version 1.0, and in anticipation of this milestone, developer Stunlock Studios has unveiled a trailer for the game’s upcoming major update, Invaders of Oakveil. The best part? The update will be free of charge! This update introduces a new area to explore known as Oakveil Woodlands, a forested region where a spreading “corruption” poses a threat.
The primary antagonist in this update is Megara the Serpent Queen, believed to be the source of the corruption. She commands a group of minions known as The Venomblades, which could easily pass as a goth rollerblading clique. Players can look forward to new gameplay features such as an arena-building option in their castle, one-on-one duels without consequences in the wild, three new weapon types (claws, twinblades, throwing daggers), and seven additional spells to experiment with.
Combat mechanics are receiving a significant overhaul, with revamped stats, balanced gear, and the introduction of new customization tools. Blood types have been reworked, passive spells are more impactful, and unlocking spell points grants passive bonuses. Numerous changes are in store!
Crafting will be streamlined, allowing players to access ingredients from their vault without physically visiting it. Additionally, stables will be available for horse storage, and prisons can now house creatures for blood extraction (not exactly a feature for horse enthusiasts).
In addition to various other updates detailed on the game’s official website, V Rising will soon be officially supported on Steam Deck. Mark your calendars for April 28th, as all of these exciting changes will be implemented by then.
