Saber Interactive has announced the exciting return of the classic dinosaur hunter in Turok: Origins at The Game Awards. This new installment of the franchise will feature a fast-paced, third-person, sci-fi shooter experience with both solo and cooperative gameplay for up to three players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Turok: Origins promises to deliver intense action as players battle against dinosaurs, using their weapons and abilities to take them down and upgrade their arsenal by absorbing DNA. The game will offer a variety of weapons, including plasma rifles, ray guns, snipers, bows, shotguns, and more.
The CEO and co-founder of Saber Interactive, Matthew Karch, expressed his excitement for bringing back the beloved Turok franchise, stating, “Turok was one of the first console shooters I ever played. When we looked at game franchises that we felt deserved to be brought back, Turok was at the top of our list. At Saber, we love taking classic IP and combining it with fresh gameplay. We are excited to finally announce the game, but we’ll be even happier when we deliver this old-school experience with modern-day execution.”
Turok first gained popularity with the trilogy of N64 games – Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion. Despite some unsuccessful attempts in the early 2000s, the N64 games remain iconic in the minds of gamers, thanks to Nightdive Studios’ re-releases in recent years.
