Trump admin adds banner attacking ‘Radical Left Democrats’ to government websites

The Trump administration has taken to federal websites to place blame on Democrats for the government shutdown, with some sites even promoting President Donald Trump. A banner on the US Department of Agriculture’s website accuses “The Radical Left Democrats” of causing the shutdown and emphasizes Trump’s desire to keep the government operational to support essential services.

Similar messages can be found on other government websites, such as the Department of the Treasury, where Democrats are accused of shutting down the government due to “reckless spending and obstructionism.” The White House website also points fingers at Democrats and features a countdown timer tracking the duration of the shutdown.

The shutdown occurred on Wednesday morning when Congress failed to agree on a funding bill, with Democrats advocating for the extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies facing resistance from Republicans. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) placed the blame squarely on Democrats, stating that they “voted” for the government shutdown.

While some agencies have adopted the administration’s messaging, others like the Department of State, the Department of Education, and the Federal Communications Commission simply inform visitors that their websites will not be updated during the shutdown.
