iOS 17 was recently released with exciting updates like customizable contact posters, Tapback replies, and voice note improvements. With the news of RCS messaging coming to Apple in 2024, iOS 18 is expected to bring significant changes for iPhone users. Here are some additional features I hope to see in iOS 18.
While it might be early to discuss iOS 18 after the recent iOS 17 release, consider these feature requests as my wishlist for Apple’s future updates.
Individual iMessage search
Searching for keywords in iMessage currently retrieves all conversations containing that keyword, without distinguishing between iPhone and non-iPhone texts. It would be more useful to search within individual messages rather than entire conversations.

Allowing users to search iMessage individually, similar to WhatsApp’s feature, would provide easier access to specific conversations without scrolling through extensive message history.
Improved pinging
Enhanced pinging functionality across Apple devices would be beneficial. Users should be able to ping any Apple accessory from any Apple device, regardless of the generation.

For example, being able to ping AirPods from an Apple Watch or iPhone seamlessly would be a valuable addition to the Apple ecosystem.
Scheduled iMessages
In iOS 18, implementing scheduled iMessages directly from the iPhone would be convenient. This feature could simplify tasks like sending birthday texts by allowing users to schedule messages at specific times.
While third-party apps offer this functionality, having it integrated into iOS would streamline the messaging experience for iPhone users.
Wrap-up
These are just a few feature requests for iOS 18 that could enhance the user experience. What features would you like to see in the next iOS update? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
