There's a new Platinum game hidden in the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake that's actually a remake of a rework of a Zone of the Enders 3 prototype

Have you ever heard about the hidden Zone of the Enders 3 prototype in the original Metal Gear Solid 3 on PS2? I was surprised to learn about it. The secret minigame known as “Guy Savage” is a simple hack-and-slash game with hook swords, transformations, and zombies. It is portrayed as a dream of Naked Snake, triggered by a combination of torture and a reference to Dracula from Para-Medic during a codec conversation.

The original Guy Savage was directed by Metal Gear Solid writer Shuyo Murata. This dreamy minigame makes a return in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, an Unreal Engine remake developed by PlatinumGames. The new version features improved visuals and a moonlit graveyard setting. The gameplay remains similar to the original. Check out the video of the PS2 version and the updated version on Gamespot.

Learning about Guy Savage gives me an eerie feeling. Delta Snake Eater is Konami’s attempt to continue the Metal Gear Solid series without Hideo Kojima. It pays tribute to Kojima by recreating his eccentric style and unique touches that defined the series.

Delta Snake Eater stands out as a remake project because of Kojima’s distinct design choices that add a personal touch to the games. Konami has revitalized these elements in the remake, including the Guy Savage minigame, which was originally intended to be part of a canceled Zone of the Enders sequel. It’s a strange and fascinating development in the world of video games.

Video games truly are bizarre and full of surprises. They are like virtual haunted houses, filled with unexpected twists and turns. The discovery of Guy Savage in Delta Snake Eater is one of the most intriguing aspects of the upcoming remake. Stay tuned for our review before the release on August 28th.
