CD Projekt RED Unveils The Witcher 4 Tech Demo at State of Unreal Conference
During the State of Unreal conference today, CD Projekt RED showcased a tech demo of The Witcher 4, running on a base PS5 at 60fps with raytracing. It’s important to note that as the game is still in early development, the final product may not achieve the same performance benchmarks.
The tech demo provides a sneak peek at Ciri in action in the region of Kovir, a new area for players to explore. Introducing Ciri’s horse, Kelpie, with a personality that adds charm to the game. The latest Unreal Engine 5.6 update enhances the experience with nanite foliage and character motion matching, making interactions like horse riding more realistic.
The world of The Witcher 4 is highly responsive to Ciri’s actions, as demonstrated in a scene where she interacts with a passerby carrying apples, leading to a chain reaction involving a child and some pigs. The demo also showcases vibrant crowds in a market square, all while maintaining a smooth 60 fps gameplay experience.
The announcement of The Witcher 4 in December revealed Ciri as the lead protagonist, marking a new chapter for the series set in Kovir. Details about the storyline and returning characters are scarce at the moment, and a release date is yet to be confirmed.
