The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 Plot
In the upcoming season, Daryl and Carol will journey to Spain in their quest to return to the US.
Showrunner David Zabel told The Hollywood Reporter:
It’s one of the things that sets us apart from the other ‘Walking Dead’ shows – that we get to show how different parts of the world have responded to the walker apocalypse and the different impact it has had in different places and come up with some cool, new things that you don’t see in the American versions.
Zabel also explained:
We loved the reinvigoration we experienced going to France, and we wanted to continue doing that. On a story level, the characters should not settle down. It should be a road show. They have to keep moving [to return home]. At the end of season two, they’re going somewhere. We don’t know exactly where, and it’s not a direct line to the next place they go. But the idea is to keep the characters struggling and striving to get home and moving.
Given the world of The Walking Dead, Daryl and Carol are likely to encounter various post-apocalyptic communities on their journey – from ordinary people to psychopaths, local warlords, cultists, and other dark characters.

Will there be The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4?
Yes! At Comic-Con 2025 in San Diego, showrunner David Zabel confirmed that the series will return for a fourth season on AMC and AMC+. Production is set to begin in Spain in July 2025 – filming locations include Bilbao, Galicia, Andalucía, the Segovia region, and Toledo.
However, season 4 will be the final chapter of Daryl’s adventures – but fans need not fret. The conclusion of this spin-off does not mean the end of Daryl’s on-screen presence. As Zabel stated:
After much discussion, three weeks ago, we began filming Season 4. It will be a super-sized season. We will produce eight episodes, which is very exciting… and it will truly allow us to wrap up the story of Daryl and Carol in Spain, delivering a deeply emotional and powerful conclusion. It will also bring closure to this chapter of the characters’ journey, the European adventure, and so, it will be the final season of this iteration of the show. As for what lies beyond for these characters, we shall see. I’m sure there’s plenty, and we’re always in discussions, but it will be the fourth and last season.
There is currently no information on the premiere date for Daryl Dixon season 4. However, considering the release of season 1 in September 2023, season 2 in September 2024, and season 3 in September 2025, we anticipate the final installment to debut in September 2026.
