The MacBook Neo is ‘the most repairable MacBook’ in years, according to iFixit

Apple’s latest release, the MacBook Neo, has been making waves as the most budget-friendly MacBook to date, but it’s also earning praise for its repairability. iFixit recently conducted a detailed teardown of the device and found that it is the most repairable MacBook in over a decade.

One of the standout features of the MacBook Neo is its battery design. Unlike previous models where the battery was glued in, the Neo’s battery is held in place by a tray secured with 18 screws. This design change has been met with excitement at iFixit, who believe that screws are a much better alternative to adhesive when it comes to repairs.

In addition to the battery, other factors that contribute to the MacBook Neo’s repairability include a flat disassembly tree, compatibility with replacement parts, and easier access to components like the display and keyboard.

Despite some concerns, such as soldered RAM and storage, iFixit still gave the MacBook Neo a repairability score of 6 out of 10, noting that it is a strong score for a MacBook.
