The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom's latest trailer shows that Breath of the World's influence will spread even to the 2D games

Nintendo surprised fans by dropping a new overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom today, showcasing clear influences from Breath of the Wild.

In June, Nintendo unveiled its latest Zelda game shortly after Tears of the Kingdom’s release. This time, Princess Zelda takes the spotlight in her own game. The new Traversing Hyrule trailer offers a detailed look at the locations players will explore, Zelda’s abilities, and her traveling companion. The Gerudo make their first appearance in a 2D Zelda game in Gerudo Desert, adding to the mystery.

Jabul Waters will feature both Sea Zora and River Zora, with the Gorons returning in Eldin Volcano. Deku Scrubs make a comeback for the first time since Tri Force Heroes. Business Scrubs can assist in making smoothies with gathered items, each offering unique effects when mixed. Players can also customize Zelda with different accessories and clothing items for various effects.

The game design of Echoes of Wisdom draws inspiration from Breath of the Wild’s open-world exploration and “play with your toolset” approach. Side quests and an Adventure Log similar to Breath of the Wild will accompany the main quest. Fast travel and the ability to ride a horse with unique features add to the gameplay experience.

A new ability introduced in the trailer, Bind, allows Zelda to connect with objects and manipulate them, reminiscent of Tears of the Kingdom’s Ultrahand. The trailer hints at rifts affecting landmarks and the use of portals, reminiscent of A Link to the Past’s Dark World.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches on September 26 for Nintendo Switch.
