Ending the week with a little teaser story courtesy of Maw reader MiniMatt. The developers at Wube Software, known for Factorio, have hinted at their next game project by sharing their inspiration: World Of Warcraft.
The hint was dropped in a wrap-up article discussing the Factorio Space Age expansion. The article covers player stats, bugs, the official soundtrack, and briefly mentions future projects.
Developer Kovarex writes, “This is one of the most frequent questions I’m getting. Well, I’m not really sure, but we are playing with different kinds of ideas for the next game. Will we figure out something worth doing? Maybe.
“To clear my head and gather some inspiration, I decided to immerse myself in the Fresh World of Warcraft world for a while. You can find me on the Fresh server in the guild called Factory must grow,” he adds. “The game I’m contemplating is related to WoW in a similar way as Factorio is related to Minecraft.”
And that’s all the information available for now. It’s a brief update, leaving me pondering the equation: (factory builder/block builder) = (massively multiplayer RPG/???).
If you crack the code, let me know. Many thanks to MiniMatt, who also shared news about the spiritual successor to Kerbal Space Program from the original creator of DayZ.
