Rumors and reports of a potential remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion have been circulating for quite some time now, but the latest confirmation comes directly from developer Virtuos. Screenshots and details of the remake have surfaced on their website.
In addition to the screenshots, Eurogamer has revealed that Bethesda’s plan is to surprise launch the game next week on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC – with availability on Xbox Game Pass, of course.
The leaked images were discovered on the backend of Virtuos’ website by keen-eyed Reddit users. These screenshots showcase the game, comparisons between the new version and the original 2006 release, and more. While the images were initially hosted on Virtuos’ servers and accessible to the public, they have since been uploaded to imgur after the studio took down their website. For those interested, a full selection can be viewed on imgur, but here’s a sneak peek:

The 2025 version of Oblivion showcases a significant increase in detail, with a departure from the hazy visuals of the early Xbox 360 era in favor of a vibrant late afternoon setting and lush vegetation.
Founded in Shanghai and now based in Singapore, Virtuos is a global company with numerous employees and teams worldwide. The company is renowned for providing co-development support on major projects, including art for the Horizon series and co-development for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, as well as various ports and remaster projects. The Oblivion remake could potentially be their most ambitious undertaking yet, and fans are eager to see how it compares to the original.
The wait for more information won’t be long now…
