Ubisoft has recently released version 1.23 of The Division, a game that was initially launched a decade ago and later succeeded by The Division 2. Despite the game being overshadowed by its successor, the new patch brings a significant improvement for PS5 players by introducing a 60fps mode. This update may seem minor, but it offers a smoother gaming experience for the dedicated few still enjoying The Division on PS5.
The Division Heartland, which was intended to be the next installment in the series, faced a setback when Ubisoft decided to cancel the project in 2024. The cancellation was attributed to Ubisoft reallocating its resources towards other ventures such as xDefiant and Rainbow Six. The development team at Red Storm Entertainment, responsible for The Division Heartland, will now be contributing to these alternative projects.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft’s free-to-play shooter, XDefiant, met a premature end on June 3, 2025, just over a year after its launch in May 2024. This turn of events led Ubisoft to undergo a series of strategic adjustments, including the sale of five games to Atari. The titles included in this transaction were Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and Grow Up. Furthermore, Ubisoft decided to delay the release of their major titles to ensure a higher level of polish, although specific games were not disclosed.
Moreover, Ubisoft has formed a partnership with Tencent to establish a subsidiary that will oversee three of its flagship franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry. This collaboration signifies a strategic move by Ubisoft to strengthen its presence in the gaming industry.
