The demons are both tragic and hot in Possessor(s), the Hyper Light Drifter studio's new fantasy platformer

Heart Machine’s Possessor(s) is a captivating side-scrolling metroidvania platformer that combines elements of Hollow Knight and Amanita Design’s Creaks. In this game, you’ll encounter demons that have possessed everyday household objects like vending machines and office printers, adding a tragic twist to the storyline. The demons aren’t inherently violent, but being trapped in inanimate objects drives them to lash out. The game’s premise explores themes of agony and uprising, with a corporation called Agradyne at the center of the demon invasion. Despite the unsettling background, Possessor offers charming anime character design and an intriguing narrative. You play as Luca, a teenager who forms a pact with the devil Rhem to gain new abilities and weapons. As you navigate through a trashed city filled with shadows and neon glows, you’ll uncover the mysteries behind the demon invasion and the experiments carried out by Agradyne. The combat mechanics may feel familiar at first, but the game introduces unique weapons like a computer mouse and a guitar, adding a touch of creativity to the gameplay. While playing the demo, I was intrigued by the world and characters of Possessor, but some quest objectives felt like a distraction from the main storyline. Overall, Possessor stands out for its vivid world-building and thoughtful writing, promising an engaging experience for players. For more details about the demo, you can check out the Steam page.
