Graphics card prices for Nvidia’s 50-series GPUs are soaring, with vendors like MSI pushing the cost of the RTX 5070 Ti beyond its official MSRP. Initially priced at over $1,000, MSI has since adjusted the price to $920 in response to backlash from consumers. This price hike comes amidst ongoing issues with availability and delays for Nvidia’s 50-series GPUs, including the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090.
MSI’s decision to inflate prices for its custom versions of the RTX 5070 Ti, such as the RTX 5070 Ti 16G Vanguard SoC, has raised concerns among consumers. The company is also offering special edition versions of the GPU at prices well above the MSRP, further adding to the frustration. Comparisons with the RTX 5080 Founders Edition reveal that the price-inflated RTX 5070 Ti may not offer the same value proposition, leading to discontent among enthusiasts.
Notably, the RTX 5070 Ti isn’t the only Nvidia GPU facing price increases due to high demand and limited availability. The RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 have also experienced similar challenges since their launch in January, with scalpers exacerbating the situation. MSI’s pricing for the RTX 5080 Ventus 3X and RTX 5080 Suprim Liqud SoC, as well as the RTX 5090 Ventus 3X and RTX 5090 Suprim Liqud SoC, further highlights the escalating costs in the GPU market.
Despite Nvidia’s official pricing for the RTX 5070 Ti, vendors like MSI are capitalizing on the high demand for GPUs by offering custom versions at premium prices. This trend of price inflation is likely to continue as long as supply struggles to meet demand in the current market.
