That viral video of a ‘deactivated’ Tesla Cybertruck is a fake

The claim that Tesla remotely deactivated a Cybertruck on the highway due to an unauthorized music video is false, as confirmed by Tesla itself. The video posted on Instagram showing the alleged deactivation and warning message on the truck’s touchscreen was found to be fabricated. The supposed cease-and-desist letter from Tesla’s legal affairs vice president also raised suspicions due to inconsistencies in details such as the title and formatting.

Despite these discrepancies, the video gained traction on social media platforms like BlueSky and Reddit, fueling existing anti-Elon Musk sentiments. It serves as a reminder of how easily misinformation can spread online and influence public perception.
