The underground Depths is one of the most exciting and intimidating areas in all of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This isn’t just because of its vast size and foreboding collection of enemies, including the fearsome Lynel and nefarious Yiga Clan, but also the pitch-black darkness that envelops the whole environment. As a mirror of the bright and inviting world of Hyrule above, which begs you to explore every inch of its huge map, the underground Depths are dark and unforgiving, and can be difficult to navigate with steep inclines, sheer cliffs and impassable walls. To help you make sense of the underground world and where you can go to illuminate the darkness, we’ve put together this page showing the location of every single Lightroot in the Depths of Tears of the Kingdom. As Link visits different Lightroots around the Depths, more of the underground map is revealed, highlighting long-forgotten temples, Zonai Devices, temples and quests. Once you interact with a Lightroot, it not only becomes a beacon of shining light in the gloom, but a fast travel point as well, making the underground just that little bit easier to traverse. There are 120 Lightroots to find in total, but that journey will take you to all four corners of the map and isn’t recommended to do in one sitting. Indeed, some sections of the Depths aren’t accessible until later in your adventure through the main story of Tears of the Kingdom anyway, so it makes more sense to put together the underground map piece by piece. However, there are so many great items and secrets to find down here that it pays to be brave and explore - which is so much more manageable with a map to guide your way!
