I recently had the opportunity to review the Aqara Smart Radiator Thermostat E1, which I found to be an excellent and relatively affordable radiator valve for those already using the Aqara ecosystem. Now, Aqara has introduced the W600 thermostat, which stands out for its support of both Zigbee for native Aqara integration and Matter over Thread for integration with third-party systems. The Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 offers smart automation features, extended battery life, power monitoring, overheat protection, RGB LED status light, child lock button, and power-off memory. It is compatible with popular valve types and supports both Thread and Zigbee protocols. Additionally, Aqara has launched the Climate Sensor W100, which supports Matter and Zigbee protocols. The sensor features three customizable buttons, a precision sensor with an LCD display, external sensor integration, and HVAC remote control integration. The W600's design differs slightly from the E1, with the display now located on the side of the valve. The top of the valve is white, giving it a more subtle appearance. The build quality is decent, although it may feel less premium compared to other valves. Installation is straightforward, and the setup process involves connecting the valve to the Aqara Hub M3 or directly to Home Assistant. The device can be controlled via the Aqara app, allowing users to set up smart schedules and automations. In terms of functionality, the device offers more options in Thread mode compared to Zigbee mode. However, both modes provide reliable performance and the ability to adjust settings such as temperature and humidity. Overall, the Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 and Climate Sensor W100 offer a cost-effective solution for smart heating control. With support for both Zigbee and Matter protocols, these devices provide flexibility and integration options for various smart home ecosystems. The pricing of the W600 is competitive compared to other smart thermostat options on the market.
