Pebble has taken a surprising turn in its comeback journey with the announcement of a new wearable device that redefines the concept of a smart ring. Unlike other smart rings focused on health and fitness tracking, the Pebble Index 01 is designed specifically to help users capture ideas and remember important information. The Index 01 is a stainless steel ring equipped with a side button and a built-in microphone, allowing users to easily record voice notes, set reminders, start timers, or create calendar events. Recorded notes are stored in the ring's onboard memory and automatically sync with the Pebble companion app when connected to a phone. We just launched a new product - @Pebble Index 01 It's a small ring, with a button and mic. Press the button, talk and it saves your thought. I use it many times during the day to jot down reminders, todos, book recs, etc while my hands are full. Just $75 - preorders open... pic.twitter.com/2mvlKsGX49 - Eric Migicovsky (@ericmigi) December 9, 2025 Within the companion app, recordings are transcribed locally and categorized as reminders, timers, or notes. There is no need for a monthly subscription, although Pebble offers an optional cloud service for online backups and improved speech-to-text accuracy. Pebble allows users to customize the ring's button for additional actions such as controlling music playback, taking photos, or triggering smart home commands. A double-press and hold gesture can fetch answers to simple queries, but this feature requires an internet connection and is not enabled by default. Pebble The Index 01 is designed for minimal maintenance and uses a long-lasting silver oxide battery that can last up to 2 years with average use. Once the battery is depleted, users can send the ring back to Pebble for recycling and purchase a replacement. Despite the need for periodic replacements, the introductory price of $75 makes the Index 01 an affordable option. Pre-orders for the polished silver, gold, or matte black versions are now available on Pebble's website, with shipments expected to start in March next year. The price will increase to $99 after the initial launch period.
