Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is set to make its debut on PlayStation 5 this summer, marking another first-party Xbox game making its way to the blue team. Hellblade 2 will be optimized for both PS5 and PS5 Pro, with Ninja Theory branding the announcement artwork as "Enhanced." This new release will introduce additional features, which will also be available as a free update for players on Xbox Series X|S and PC through Xbox and Steam. One of the intriguing technical aspects is how the PS5 Pro may surpass the capabilities of the Xbox Series X. The original release aimed for 30fps on Series X without performance modes, so will the PS5 Pro push for higher resolution, introduce a performance mode, or enhance fidelity? Only time will tell. In their announcement, the Ninja Theory team stated, "At Ninja Theory, we have a history of releasing games on PlayStation, starting with Heavenly Sword in 2007. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, released on PlayStation 4 in 2017, resonated with players and we are excited to bring Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II to PlayStation 5 this summer." Microsoft's acquisition of Ninja Theory in 2018 was influenced by the success of Hellblade. Despite prior acclaimed titles like Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC: Devil May Cry, the studio faced instability. Hellblade was a breakthrough in AAA-quality game development on a small budget and became a hit. The sequel's Xbox exclusivity following the acquisition was met with criticism from PlayStation gamers. However, Microsoft's cross-platform strategy is now opening doors for this visually stunning game. Our experience with the game last year led us to say, "Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is a powerful and haunting example of the unique storytelling power of video games. It offers an experience like no other and is a must-play for gamers." Source: Ninja Theory
