By 2030, sales of enterprise software through hyperscale cloud marketplaces hosted by major players like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, and Google are projected to exceed $163 billion, a significant increase from the $30 billion recorded in 2024. Research from IT market analyst firm Omdia attributes this growth to the rising adoption of hyperscale cloud procurement marketplaces by enterprises, as well as the increasing demand for AI tools. Omdia forecasts a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29.1% from 2025 to 2030, as vendors across the IT industry increasingly utilize hyperscaler marketplaces as a primary sales channel. The continued growth in upfront multi-year cloud commitments by enterprises is also driving sales, with nearly $470 billion in committed spend to AWS, Microsoft, and Google, a portion of which will be allocated to third-party marketplace purchases. As enterprise cloud purchases become more complex, many companies are relying on third-party channel partners to facilitate around 60% of marketplace transactions. The top technology categories driving spending through hyperscale cloud marketplaces include infrastructure software, DevOps, and business applications. Looking ahead, Omdia predicts that AI and cybersecurity will further fuel spending as enterprises progress with their cloud migration strategies. Agentic AI and cybersecurity are expected to experience substantial growth in the coming years, with a focus on microtransactions and integrated security platforms. Chief analyst Alastair Edwards highlights the popularity of hyperscale marketplaces among both enterprises and independent software vendors (ISVs), with some ISVs achieving annual sales exceeding $1 billion through these platforms. Overall, the future of hyperscale cloud marketplaces looks promising, with agentic AI emerging as a key growth category. The competition among hyperscalers to dominate the market as a channel for agentic AI continues to intensify, reflecting the evolving landscape of cloud consumption.
