Harvey, the high-flying legal AI startup, has recently acquired Hexus, a two-year-old startup specializing in tools for creating product demos, videos, and guides. This acquisition comes as Harvey continues its aggressive expansion in the competitive legal tech market. Sakshi Pratap, the founder and CEO of Hexus, who previously worked at Walmart, Oracle, and Google, has shared that her San Francisco-based team has already joined Harvey. The India-based engineers of Hexus will also come on board once Harvey establishes an office in Bangalore. Pratap will lead an engineering team focused on enhancing Harvey's offerings for in-house legal departments. Pratap mentioned, "What we’re bringing to Harvey is deep experience building enterprise AI tools in adjacent problem spaces. This expertise will help Harvey stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market." Before the acquisition, Hexus had secured $1.6 million from Pear VC, Liquid 2 Ventures, and angel investors. Pratap did not disclose the specific deal terms but mentioned that the structure was centered around "long-term team incentives." Harvey has been making waves in the AI startup scene, with its valuation reaching $8 billion after a recent funding round of $160 million. The company has raised a total of $760 million in 2025. Notable investors include Andreessen Horowitz, T. Rowe Price, and WndrCo, among others. Currently, Harvey boasts over 1,000 clients across 60 countries, including most of the top U.S. law firms. The genesis of Harvey traces back to a cold email sent to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Co-founder and CEO Winston Weinberg, along with Gabe Pereyra, tested GPT-3 on legal questions and realized the transformative potential of AI in the legal industry. Techcrunch event San Francisco | October 13-15, 2026 Weinberg shared, "That was the moment when we were like, wow, this entire industry can be transformed by this technology." Their initial contact with Altman led to receiving funding from the OpenAI Startup Fund, which remains one of Harvey's key investors.
