Despite the long wait, some fans may have had their game on pre-order since the beginning. Given that Amazon rarely offers such discounts for video game pre-orders nowadays, it's not surprising that the company would retract these offers. Additionally, there's speculation that Nintendo might price Metroid Prime 4 at $70, similar to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. One user on Resetera shared the email notification they received about the cancelled order, citing "lack of availability" as the reason. This led to humorous (and not-so-humorous) speculations that the game might become a Switch 2 exclusive. However, considering Breath of the Wild also released on the Wii U, such a move from Nintendo would be unexpected.
