XREAL has introduced an innovative real-time 3D conversion feature to its top-of-the-line AR glasses, allowing users to convert any 2D content into immersive 3D experiences. The 'Real 3D' software was initially launched on Xreal 1S AR glasses and has now been updated to include real-time 3D conversion as an option for Xreal One and One Pro users. This cutting-edge technology eliminates the need for special video files, apps, or external software, as all conversion is done on the device itself through X1 spatial computing chipset. Xreal utilizes the X1 chip's NPU to execute depth estimation inference on each frame, generating left and right-eye views with depth perception. The company is currently evaluating the latency of Real 3D, noting a slight increase in power consumption, approximately 300mW, compared to other display modes. Moreover, Xreal emphasizes that its Real 3D technology is developed in-house, boasting a compact model optimized for the X1 chip's performance and energy efficiency. This unique approach sets Xreal apart in the industry, particularly in enabling real-time 3D conversion on low-power platforms like X1. The Beijing-based AR glasses manufacturer offers a diverse range of AR glasses designed for traditional content consumption, catering to activities such as gaming, TV viewing, and film playback on its custom Android-based OS. In addition to securing a significant $100 million financing round, Xreal has strengthened its partnership with Google, becoming the leading AR partner under an extended agreement initiated in late 2024.
