To overcome this, I set up a VPN on her devices using the UniFi UCG Max router. This allowed us to route traffic through Surfshark, enabling access to the desired content. However, we encountered challenges with domain-based policy routing, especially when using AdGuard Home DNS. To resolve this issue, we had to configure AdGuard to route specific requests through a different DNS, ensuring that policy-based routing worked effectively. Setting up VPN configurations with services like Surfshark and UniFi involves a few simple steps, including selecting locations and uploading configuration files. It's crucial to follow these steps accurately to avoid any technical issues. Additionally, for users employing PiHole for DNS, a similar setup can be applied by creating custom routing files within the PiHole directory. This allows for domain-specific routing through the VPN interface, ensuring a seamless browsing experience. In conclusion, while navigating through online safety restrictions can be challenging, utilizing VPNs and DNS configurations effectively can help bypass these limitations and access desired content securely.
