To address this, I decided to use the Unifi Cloud Gateway Max with a Zyxel 5G router as my primary WAN connection. To improve performance, I invested in the Waveform QuadMini antenna kit, which cost £300. The Waveform QuadMini is an omnidirectional antenna, making it ideal for urban environments or situations where the nearest cell tower location is unknown. Its design allows it to capture signals from multiple directions, overcoming environmental challenges. The antenna covers four frequency ranges and offers respectable gain figures. While directional antennas may provide better performance when properly positioned, the QuadMini's ease of installation and versatility make it a suitable choice for most users. The complete kit includes various mounting options and accessories for convenient setup. The antenna's build quality is robust, and the included cables are of good quality. During testing, the antenna significantly improved download speeds, especially with the Three network. The results with Vodafone were more modest but still showed improvement. The Waveform QuadMini is priced at £165 for the antenna alone and £299 for the complete kit. While the kit offers convenience, users may find better value by sourcing accessories separately. Overall, the Waveform QuadMini delivers impressive performance, especially with networks like Three. For users relying on 4G or 5G for internet connectivity, this antenna offers reliable gains in speed and stability. However, long-term users may consider alternative options for better value.
