The creators of GOLF+ (2020) are setting out to revolutionize off-course golfing simulators this year by focusing on enhancing real-world muscle memory through virtual gameplay.
CEO Ryan Engle recently announced that Golf+ will be receiving significant updates, including a new social lobby, improved user interface, and the addition of more than a dozen new courses.
Furthermore, Engle unveiled a mixed reality mode that allows players to utilize real-world golf balls and clubs to practice driving, iron play, and putting within a simulated golf environment.
Take a look at the new feature in action below:
Unlike traditional golf simulators that rely on 2D impact screens and sensors, which are better suited for full swings and driving, Golf+ aims to provide a more accurate and realistic experience, especially for putting and short-game shots.
The integration of mixed reality technology not only allows players to develop muscle memory with actual equipment but also offers a more immersive and lifelike golfing environment.
It remains unclear whether the mixed reality feature will be added to the current game as an update or if it will be released as a separate version for location-based golf simulators.
Engle hinted at Golf+ expanding to more platforms soon, with plans to launch on PC VR headsets in addition to its current availability on Quest.
Furthermore, the studio is exploring the possibility of offering gameplay on traditional PC monitors, as well as creating a unified experience with shared physics, multiplayer capabilities, and cross-play functionality across all supported platforms.
