You may need to start preparing to bid farewell to Splatfests in Splatoon 3, as a major “Grand Festival” is on the horizon, signaling the possible end of this feature. Nintendo recently announced that in celebration of two years of Splatoon 3, they will be hosting a “Grand Festival” featuring 72 hours of festivities. Described as the “biggest Splatfest ever,” the event will begin on September 13 and it appears to be the final Splatfest for the game. Given that Splatoon 2 only had two years of regular Splatfests, and with Splatoon 3 reaching its two-year mark, along with the grand scale of this event, it’s likely that this will be the last one. The festival will run until September 16 and will introduce a new hub area.
So, what’s the theme for this momentous occasion? It’s the Past, Present, and Future theme, with the Past team representing Splatoon OGs Callie and Marie, the Present team representing Pearl and Marina, and the Future team representing Deep Cut’s Frye, Shiver, and Big Man. With such a theme, it’s hard to imagine a Splatfest theme that could follow this one. Additionally, alongside this Splatfest, there are a couple of new amiibo sets on the way, which you can find more details about below.
The first set is the Alterna Set featuring Callie and Marie in their outfits from Splatoon 3’s story mode, and the second set is the Side Order Set featuring Pearl and Marina in their outfits from the game’s DLC Side Order. Both sets are set to be released on September 5 ahead of the Grand Festival as a commemoration. As with all amiibo releases, it’s advisable to pre-order them as they tend to sell out quickly and restocks are not always guaranteed.
Splatoon 3 was initially launched in 2022, and Alex gave it a rating of 4/5 stars in his review, stating “Splatoon 3 is undoubtedly the best Splatoon game – I just wish it felt a bit more new.”
