Spacetop Launches Windows App to Turn Laptops into Large AR Workspaces

Laptop with AR Glasses Cancelled, Spacetop for Windows Released

In a surprising move last year, Sightful decided to cancel its innovative laptop with built-in AR glasses and shifted its focus to developing a version of its AR workspace software for Windows. The company has now unveiled Spacetop for Windows, allowing users to convert their surroundings into a private virtual display for enhanced productivity on the move.

While the previous hardware was compatible with XREAL AR glasses, the new subscription-based app is now compatible with a wide range of AI PCs, including models from Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, and Microsoft.

Previously, Sightful was working on a ‘headless’ laptop that operated on an Android-based OS named SpaceOS. However, in October 2024, the company made the decision to cancel its Spacetop G1 AR workspace device, which was priced at $1,900, citing the potential advancements in neural processing units (NPU) for improved processing power and battery efficiency when running AR applications.

Now, Sightful has introduced the Spacetop Bundle priced at $899, which includes the XREAL Air 2 Ultra AR glasses (usually priced at $699) and a 12-month Spacetop subscription (renewable annually at $200).

Additionally, Sightful offers optional optical lenses at an extra cost, such as prescription single-vision lens inserts for $50 and prescription progressive-vision lens inserts for $150.

Some recommended laptops for optimal performance with Spacetop include Dell XPS Core Ultra 7 (32GB), HP Elitebook, Lenovo Yoga Slim, ASUS Zenbook, Acer Swift Go 14, and Microsoft Surface Pro for Business (Ultra 7). However, Sightful notes that the list is not exhaustive, as there is a continual expansion of devices integrating Intel Core Ultra 7/9 processors with Meteor Lake architecture or newer.

Key Features:

  • Seamless access to popular apps: Spacetop supports a wide range of consumer and business applications for Windows users
  • Intuitive workspace manipulation with simple keystrokes for pushing, sliding, and rotating
  • Travel mode enables users to carry their workspace wherever they go, be it on a plane, train, coffee shop, Uber, or at home
  • Bright and clear display that adjusts to different lighting conditions for indoor and outdoor use
  • Familiar OS experience with the added benefits of spatial computing over traditional screen extensions
  • Lightweight glasses (83g) for all-day comfort
  • Expansive 100” display for a multi-monitor-like workspace
  • Ergonomic design to prevent neck strain and discomfort from prolonged use

With over $61 million in funding, Sightful was established in 2020 by industry veterans from PrimeSense, Magic Leap, and Broadcom. Headquartered in Tel Aviv, the company also has offices in Palo Alto, New York, and Taiwan. Explore more about Spacetop for Windows here.
