The highly anticipated MMO set in Sony’s post-apocalyptic Horizon universe has been confirmed as a reality. Titled “Horizon Steel Frontiers,” this new game is a collaboration between Sony and the Korean gaming company NCSoft, with plans for cross-platform availability on PC, iOS, and Android. The game will be free to play, as stated on the official website.
The announcement video, which includes cinematic sequences, pre-alpha gameplay footage, and developer interviews, showcases the game’s focus on battling the massive mechanical beasts featured in the Horizon series. Players will have the opportunity to engage in these battles alongside others, emphasizing both cooperation and competition.
According to Jan-Bart van Beek, studio director at Guerilla Games, “Horizon Steel Frontiers” is a mobile MMORPG set in the Deathlands, inspired by the landscapes of Arizona and New Mexico. Players will take on the role of machine hunters, facing challenges and forging alliances in a dynamic open world environment.
Executive producer Sung-Gu Lee emphasizes the thrill of combat against colossal machines, expanding upon the original Horizon series’ gameplay mechanics. Players will have the opportunity to customize their characters and utilize new strategies for engaging with the game’s formidable foes.
