Since its inception, the live-action adaptation of the beloved Snow White animated film has been embroiled in controversy.

Others, including Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, have labeled the tale as a “regressive narrative about seven dwarfs living in a cave together.” Despite the use of computer-generated imagery for the seven magical beings, criticism persisted. Many viewers found the CGI characters to be artificial and grotesque, while members of the dwarfism and little people community felt that their acting opportunities were being usurped.
The casting of Colombian actress Rachel Zegler in the lead role also sparked prejudiced remarks on social media.

For comparison, “Mufasa: The Lion King,” Disney’s most recent live-action remake, became available for purchase and rental 60 days after its theatrical release, while “Moana 2” hit VOD after 62 days. Despite its box-office success, Snow White faced criticism from both critics and audiences.
