Apple Design Award-winning ski and ride tracking app Slopes recently introduced 3D interactive maps, improved search functionality, and more. In a surprise update, Slopes on iOS now offers live lift and trail status details for over 50 resorts in the US and Canada.
The Slopes team announced this exciting new feature in a blog post, mentioning that the original plan was to launch it next year but they couldn’t wait due to its high value.
Available for testing by iOS Slopes Premium users, the new “Live Lift & Trail Status” feature can be accessed directly on the recording screen and anytime on the interactive maps in the Resorts tab.
With this update, closed trails will appear grayed out, and users can access a trail/lift status filter as a layer in the map settings.
This is an experimental feature currently available on iOS with limited rollout. Users are encouraged to provide feedback on their experience and suggestions for future enhancements when it expands to other platforms, including Android, and more resorts.
Slopes is a free app on the App Store with no advertisements, offering unlimited tracking, key statistics, snow conditions, season/lifetime overviews, the ability to locate friends on the mountain, and support for Siri and HealthKit.
Users can opt for a $3.99 single pass or a $29.99 annual subscription (or a $49.99 annual family subscription) for Slopes Premium, which provides detailed run stats, performance insights, interactive trail maps, search functionality, 3D & AR day replays, fitness insights with Apple Watch recording, and more.
It’s important to note that Slopes Premium on iOS is required to access live lift and trail status information. The feature is currently available at the following resorts:
- Alpine Meadows
- Arapahoe Basin
- Aspen Highlands
- Aspen Mountain
- Aspen Snowmass
