Expression Games has unveiled a sneak peek at the gameplay of their upcoming release, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, a large-scale multiplayer sequel set to launch in 2026.
In a departure from the WW2 setting of the original game, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam transports players to 1973, amidst one of the most significant conflicts of the 20th century. Just like its predecessor, two teams of 50 players will battle for dominance, this time navigating the jungles, rivers, and skies of Vietnam. The game’s visuals aim to capture the cinematic representation of this war, although it would be nice to see more variation in the time of day, moving away from constant sunsets.
New gameplay features include the introduction of aerial units such as helicopters for troop transport, supply delivery, reconnaissance, and air support. Additionally, patrol boats play a crucial role, armed to the teeth for navigating enemy waters and launching attacks. The use of tunnels, a key tactic for the North Vietnamese, allows for surprise underground movements against enemy forces.
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S next year. For an early glimpse of the game, check out our preview from Gamescom in August. I noted, “Hell Let Loose: Vietnam offers war gaming fans a substantial dose of wish fulfillment. Adapting this conflict is no easy feat, but the team’s approach to balancing diverse battle tactics, technology, and destruction options appears to be on point.”
